Klevu caught up with Mikko Rekola, Chief Evangelist at Woolman. Mikko gives advice for someone looking to migrate to Shopify, discusses why product discovery is important to their client base and what he’s most excited about for the future of ecommerce.

  1. Tell us about Woolman.

  1. What sets you apart from other e-commerce agencies?

  1. What would you say to someone looking to migrate to Shopify?

Now is the time to act! We have done tons of migrations with a rock-solid track record. Lately, we migrated one of the world’s largest D2C brands, Daniel Wellington, to Shopify Plus. Especially during a more tough financial environment, running a Shopify Plus store with Shopify Markets functionality is a no-brainer to many in comparison to Hybris, Magento 2, or expensive headless implementations. Shopify’s B2B functionality can also serve the most with a fraction of a cost to other more traditional B2B ecommerce solutions.

  1. What is your biggest accomplishment so far?

Improving every single day and being an honest and holistic partner with a strong business development view. Our customers have certainly liked this, and we are very proud of customers such as H&M Group, Daniel Wellington, Fazer, ATP Atelier, and many others.

  1. Why do you think product discovery is important to your client base?

It all depends on the product catalog size and improving the customer experience. We have onboarded many multi-brand stores to Shopify Plus, such as Ruohonjuuri. In these cases, smooth discovery improves the customer experience and increases conversion. We have also seen an increasing demand in D2C brands where the product catalogs have been lately expanding. The fashion business is a great example, where customers want to have ease of filtering the right sizes, colors, and fits without any issues.

  1. Why did you decide to partner with Klevu?

Klevu has been a long-time partner of ours, and their offering has been rock-solid. We do love that they have been very welcoming with our feedback and that they truly want to make sure every single merchant has the solution in their best use. Klevu is also thanked for its transparency, unlike some of their competitors.

  1. What are some of the most overlooked elements of a website that you find to be of importance?

It depends heavily on the use case, but in most cases, it has been mobile usage, especially when smartphones have gotten larger. Shopify provides a great starting point for merchants of all sizes, but not all Shopify themes are that great. The new Shopify 2.0 themes offer a major improvement, and Shopify asked us to participate in this trend. Therefore, we launched our premium Taiga theme with incredible feedback. It’s mobile-first and conversion-optimized, and we have put tons of effort into making sure it works with all key applications in the ecosystem such as Klevu.

  1. What are you most excited about for the future of e-commerce?

It’s tough to pick just one, but personally, I’m most keen to see how Shopify will keep evolving and serving an increased amount of enterprise-level online stores. I think Shopify POS is about to change the way physical retail will be considered. I also believe AI will play a crucial part in what brands can do this year, and I can only imagine what will happen in the very future.
